Default PC/Upgrade from Chase Freedom to Sapphire Preferred?

Can you product change from Freedom to Chase Sapphire or Sapphire Preferred.. Is there a waiting period?

You probably could. But why would you want to? There is a substantial sign up bonus on offer, and you won't get them with a PC.

Agree with flan. Not only that but the Freedom and CSP work very well together for earning maximum rewards.

Thanks for the reply flan and membersince99 ...Well I posted another thread regarding getting approved for a Preferred, but my income just goes under the 30k threshold. I hear you get rejected due to income. So I wanted to go this route in the hopes that they would reconsider me for an upgrade instead of ap'ing outright. I can always get a freedom later since its there starter cards.

So that is how you got your name (Sly 1) - try to sneak into it. Good for you. I guess in that case, why not ask? They are as good to recon with as it comes, you might have to do it a few times to get the right person who wants to give you a shot, but why not?

OP, if you haven't had the Freedom for at least 12 months, they can't upgrade you to the CSP because there's an annual fee increase. It's in the CARD act.

How is your Slate utilization and payment history? A credit analyst at Chase told me that they look at how low you keep your utilization and how much you pay every month. I would think, for example, putting $2000 a month and paying 90% of the Slate off in the same time frame would get you approved for any of their cards. But that, of course, applies to applications for a whole new card rather than PC.
