What's up folks? Do Chase cards start out with high credit limits? I'm just curious due to the insane number of mailers I get from them. I'm not going to apply anytime soon, but I am curious.

I app'd for the Freedom with a 717TU, 12k income. I was given instant approval for $2.7k CL. To me that was an insane limit because I was expecting to have to fight for $500.
From what I've read though it can be hard to get a CLI out of them so it seems their generosity is all up front.
I got a Chase Sapphire preferred with 781EX, 122K income... with a 22,500K limit but I also bank with them maybe that help out too...
Chase Freedom approved 11/2010 with a $7K limit...auto CLI to $10K in 8/2011.
I recently applied for 3 Chase cards in the past 6 weeks and was given the following limits:
Chase Sapphire Preferred: 7.5k
Southwest Premier: 8.5k (which I had lowered to 6k so I could qualify for the Hyatt Signature below)
Hyatt Visa Signature: 5k
Compare that to Discover which gave me 3k and American Express that gave me 3.5k for their Starwood Preferred Guest card in the same timespan.
Would definitely say Chase is the most generous of all the banks when it comes to credit limit, but I've had a really good history with them in the past 4 years as their Amazon card had been my primary spending card and my checking account with them being my primary checking account. I had no history with Discover and I only use my Amex Blue card with 5k limit for Costco purchases once or twice a month
Thanks all. I may do the Freedom.
