First experience ... The mega merger

Since Washington Mutual and Chase are now entirely merged, even online I studied the site quite a bit. Like the site way more than I did the wamu site. Even though they jacked up my rate 0.75% I am still pretty happy. I also had to call up their customer service to check them out. Seemed pretty friendly and the most important part for me was that I had an American on the phone. I try to stay away from every CC where I know they export the majority of their jobs oversees. Since I try to use every CC I have just like a charge card I don't care to much about the APR.

Just to clarify... I am not a hardcore right wing republican, nor am I a ultra lefty. I just think we should keep the jobs where companies make their money.

I couldn't agree more. I hate supporting companies that export jobs overseas. Doing that is what got us into this mess. I'm one of the few in my part of the country that insists on only buying American cars. We need to support our own citizens on economy first.

As far as credit cards go, Discover is another great company for customer service that is often overlooked. Because they only have about a 5% marketshare you don't hear them much, but my customer support with them has always been with well trained Americans. Even the cream of the crop American Express is starting to erode their quality by resorting to outsourced call centers for some cards, some of the time. I am completely against this. Oh well, I suppose as their quality slides downhill, others like Discover will come in and pick it up.

Beware I have a Chase Freedom Visa credit card and the reward structure has changed drastically. I do not carry a balance ever so the current interest rates and APR are not something I always pay attention to but I do think it has gone up a point or two since December. My theory on this is that the banks are trying to cash out some easy money before the Federal Reserve credit card reform act kicks into play. I have a feeling they will milk what they can before that.

The one thing I can't complain about for Chase is their customer service. I have not called anytime lately but in the past I would get American customer service.

Support the economy you make your money in is really important to me however it upsets me quite a bit that the majority of parts for most of the American cars is made in South America and Asia. Is there really a Full American Car Manufacturer left ? Bottom line is, that I doubt that there is any "100% one country" car manufacturer left besides cars which come from China.

The last car to be manufactured entirely within the United States was a model of Saturn during the nineties. Since then there has not been any mainstream vehicle that has been manufactured completely within this country.

Now it is a matter of buying the vehicles that support the American economy the most. Although they may not be made entirely within the US, more of your dollars spent on American cars almost always go back to the US economy rather than a foreign entity. The only reason Toyota, Honda and others do a portion of their manufacturing in the USA is for trade tax reasons. They manufacture the bare minimum percentage here needed to qualify and still continue to do the rest overseas. In addition the owners of these companies are mostly foreign, all of the top executives are foreign and any profits are going to them rather than Americans.
