It may just mean that they need to manually review it. Try calling Citibank at these backdoor phone numbers:
    • 800-645-7240
    • 800-288-4653
    • 800-750-7453 (from another credit board)
And see if they can tell you the status if you were approved or not. Sometimes you can head off a denial by calling them in case they need more information or an explanation of certain info in your credit bureau.

You have too many credit cards. When Citi looked at your credit report they saw 5 credit cards opened, there were all under the major bank or financial company. I'm sure it said on your report on-time/never late, don't know how many cards you have canceled.

But Citi wants to see usage with all the cards. If they were to give you that card, looking at 30% of your credit they feel you wouldn't be able to use all your cards plus this new one.

My friend had about 3 Chase cards, he wanted another 1 and the bank told him he has too many cards. He canceled 2 of them then he got the card he was looking for.

I also applied for a Citibank card and I received a letter saying I have too many inquiries. I had a 803 score until I opened a Citgo plus card.

Just out of curiosity, if you already have a Citibank Diamond Preferred card, that you aren't even using, why would you want to open another Citibank account? At one point I had 4 different Citibank credit cards due to mergers and acquisitions, and each one of them had different rates/terms, and I closed all but my original account. Back then I didn't know what a credit score was but I did know I had too many credit cards, and at the time, too many bills associated with those.

I have an title loan I did a while back when my girl was in a jam. Horrible rate because when I did there was a charge off on my credit report for 40 bucks I fought and had removed completely removed off my reports. So I wanted to bal trans it and pay off my best buy card and a small bal on my credit union visa. Basically lowering my interest and combining those monthly payments into 1 lower payment. Auto loans are usually higher then a.credit card payment.
