Thread: is it harder to get Visa and MC w/ bad credit?

I had bad credit forever from when I was in college and even though I straightened up after all I could get was crap store credit cards. Then finally I got a discover card with a $13k limit!!

Do you think it's easier to get Discover cards if you don't have the best credit? Since they're not as popular as Visa and Mastercard I'm guessing they give more wiggle room to people that apply to get them approved. if they're doing that it's a good move because it will help them stand out even though they're the underdog. I love them now that I have a credit card with a high credit limit!!!

Did you read that history section on here about Visa and Mastercard? They don't issue the cards themselves, the financial institutions do so they really have no control over who gets what cards and who doesn't.

I know there are a ton of Visa and MC's for bad credit so if you're just talking about getting a credit card they're probably easier to get than a Discover. I think though that smaller companies like Discover are more likely to give you a higher credit limit since like you said they are the underdogs so they try extra hard with their customers. That's just my 2 cents on it.

13k limit? Now I'm pissed I have great credit and when I signed up for a Discover card for kicks they didn't give me near that. Even though I have other credit cards with limits many times higher.
