Do you mean the Citibank Executive Level American Airlines AAdvantage World Elite MasterCard?

This does appear to be their current top level card. They used to market a Chairman Amex and a Platinum Amex.

Anybody whom has the excellent credit and income may apply; therefore, it is not exclusive like the Amex Centurian.

As far was why someone would want one if they alread had an Amex Platinum: well, it earns AAdvantage points and from what I have read, Citibank is offering the card with an EMV Chip for ease of use in Europe. And, since it uses the MasterCard network, it is more widely accepted than an Amex. When all is said and done, Citibank, like Chase, is trying to steal high worth customers from Amex.

Oh the Thank You Prestige....I dunno...those Thank You cards seem a bit hokie to me...not very upscale. On the flip side, this card does offer a complimentary companion ticket which is something Amex discontinued a few years ago.

It seems very much like Citibank's version of Chase's Sapphire Preferred or the Amex Platinum. Sounds like a pretty decent deal though; it will more than likely be a MasterCard and therefore will have wide acceptance, no foriegn trans fees and decent points. I am willing to bet also that within a year Citibank will add the EMV chip either standard or by request so that you can travel to Europe with less hassle.

So, actually it sounds like a better deal than Amex Platinum. The Amex will have more status if you are into that sort of thing. And if you already have an Amex, a new Amex Platinum would be backdated. That seems to be the only real benefit over this card.
