Default Very annoyed with Bank of America

I've had a student credit visa card with them since I was 18(4years ago). Called to see whether or not I could change that card to a cash back reward card without negatively effecting my credit. The lady I talked to assured me that there would be no effect to my credit score because I would keep the same date and limit on the new card. A couple days later I check my report on a free service website(creditkarma) and I see that both a hard credit inquiry AND my average age of credit lines were negatively effected.

Highly upset from being blatantly lied to I called the bank and the new lady that I talked to told me that I must not have heard the lady who I talked to last time right because switching to a new card certainly DOES effect credit...I asked the previous lady SEVERAL times whether or not this could negatively effect my average age of credit lines so she either lied to me every time or flat out didn't know what she was talking about. Turns out my student card was canceled and a whole new line of credit was started. I'll definitely be making some calls to management to see what is up. Hopefully they keep record of who their customer service representatives help. I'm beyond pissed because my other two cards were both opened up withing the last year so this really hurt the average age of my credit lines...

    any advice?

Forget about it. Your score will be back up to where it was in a few months. Don't buy into the credit score hysteria.
    CARDS (and why)
FIA Card Services: Fidelity Amex (best cash back excepting 5% cards), Fidelity Visa (spare)
Chase: Freedom (only for 5% reward categories, purchases under $10), Sapphire (not in use), Amazon Rewards (for Amazon purchases only)
CapitalOne: No Hassle Rewards (no foreign transaction fee, my only MasterCard, not in use)
Amex: Blue Cash Everyday (not in use)
Discover: More (only for 5% reward categories)

I suppose that's true, however, I've been working hard to push it in the "excellent" range and can't stand back stepping..guess it's more about principle than anything else. Don't appreciate being lied to.

Dont be too anal about it, you'll get cancer :-)

At just 22 your "excellent" score doesn't mean much to a lender, certainly peanuts compared to having good income or owning a home. People with 730+ scores routinely get 10k-15k credit lines with 0 apr., so take a breather.

I've had something similar happen. The score will shoot back up eventually. Your credit needs to look very pristine when you are looking to buy a house or something like that.
    Cards
Visa: BofA Cash rewards Visa Signature (1% on everything)
Kroger 123 Rewards Visa, Ascend FCU Platinum Visa (1% back), Penfed Platinum Cash Rewards Visa (5% on Gas)
BofA Cash Reward Platinum Plus (1% on everything, 2%on groceries, 3% on gas), Penfed Platinum Rewards Visa ( 5 points on gas, 3 points on groceries, 1 point on everything else)

Discover: Discover More (5% back rotating categories), Discover Miles (2% on travel and restaurants, double miles on phone, internet, and tv

Amex: Gold Card, BofA Accelerated Cash Rewards (1.5% on everything)

Express Store card (points for gift certificates and special deals)

Don't sweat it and don't expect them to "fix" it. There is nothing to fix. Even if they screwed up there was still an inquiry. You pestering management will do no good and could lead to other problems.
