One difference for sure is in the Platinum and Signature part of the card. VISA Platinum and VISA Signature come with their own different benefits with Signature's benefits being 'better'. Google VISA Signature and you should be able to find information on what benefits exactly come with a VISA Signature.

Whether there is any difference in the Merrill Lynch part of the card I have no idea. If you own the card, give them a call and they should be glad to share the information.

they are both executive credit cards. Not sure about Merrill Lynch. however a platinum is usually carried by executives. the signature has a concierge service. so you live in pleasanton and let's say you travel on business, you are going to Chicago. theres a real busy convention going on and you want help getting dining resarvtions. you just call visa signature and they will try and help. you can have them send gifts to a family member that you are not sure what to get them. they will help you get tickets to sporting events basketball, hockey, football and baseball. feel like a Rangers hockey game just call the visa signature concierge up.
