Just a minor FYI... asking for a higher credit limit right off the bat when you don't have a history of having higher CL cards can be a red flag for some card companies because some of them will end up thinking, "What in the world does this person suddenly need with XX,XXX credit limits when they only earn XX,XXX?"

    In other words:

Don't accidentally damage your own reputation in your enthusiasm for gaining credit.

One of the previous cards my father placed me on as an AU was a Citi card with an 18k limit.

However, if there is a general consensus that this is a bad idea, I will defer to the greater wisdom.

I was looking over my credit report again. It was actually a Citi Platinum Select Mastercard with a $14,800 limit that my father had. The EXACT same card now in my name. Is there any chance of getting the account backdated to reflect the 1994, even though my new ACC is already opened? I know I was only an AU on the card, buy my CR shows 1994 as my date of first credit. It would be awesome to carry those extra years for my AAoA.

No. American Express is the only company that will backdate.
