Generally the answer is "no" from closed accounts. If you personally closed the account there might be a chance. If the bank did it, most likely not. Just call customer service to check if that is avaialable. Maybe ask for a supervisor and skip the CSR.

I closed it when they wanted to raise the interest rate it's currently 7.99 with a 10,100 limit I have been paying it down getting ready to pay it off and have been getting pre approved offers from citi just thought it would be better to keep the existing account.

I haven't heard of being able to re-open a closed credit card account but that doesn't mean it's not possible. If you ask my hunch will be a solicitation to apply for another Citi credit card. But I know why you would want the original account re-opened with its long account history.
Disclosure: I am a moderator/paid staff of this site, which does have advertising relationships with some credit cards that are discussed. Regardless, anything I say is my honest opinion.

I'm guessing the answer will be no. However, it is THEORETICALLY possible you may get lucky here so give it a shot.

Don't forget to tell us what response they gave you.

I don't think you'll be reopening the closed account. But if you're in good standing, there should be no problem opening a new account. Look online for a promotion or special offer that you might take advantage of before you just jump in with a new application with a rep on the phone.

RE: side note -- Click on "settings" at top of page, then look on left and click on "signature."
    CARDS (and why)
FIA Card Services: Fidelity Amex (best cash back excepting 5% cards), Fidelity Visa (spare)
Chase: Freedom (only for 5% reward categories, purchases under $10), Sapphire (not in use), Amazon Rewards (for Amazon purchases only)
CapitalOne: No Hassle Rewards (no foreign transaction fee, my only MasterCard, not in use)
Amex: Blue Cash Everyday (not in use)
Discover: More (only for 5% reward categories)

I'm not sure where to ask, but I'm new to the forum also and saw craigm1's question. I don't see the "signature" selection in the "Settings" area, nor do I see how to add an avatar. Regarding the avatar, there is a selection, "Edit Avatar," but it won't let you add one. Am I missing something or are these options no longer available? BTW, I happened onto this forum two days ago, and I think it's great!

status update spoke with a low level employee at universal card and they said they couldn't reopen the account, got a supervisor on the phone and said because it was done before the credit card act took effect there is a possibility had her check my account no late payments since inception 2003 just paid the card off today spoke to them yesterday they said it would take a few days, they told me they would contact me if they need to pull my credit report up for permission, will keep posted hope based on the length of time account was opened and the payment history they re open the account
