About LinkBacksI have a normal Visa United Mileage Plus card, (one that gives me 1 mile per 1$ and thats it...
I've been trying to upgrade to the one that gives you 3x miles per United purchases and 2x miles for gas and 1x mile for everything else.
Every time I try I get denied for having too much credit out! Should I cancel my Visa Card and apply again?

Too much credit outstanding? That's a new one. I have heard of too high of balances being a problem but not having too much credit.

You need to call customer service and ask them to change which card you have. It sounds like you are applying for an additional card.

Yep if you wanna upgrade don't apply for a new card. You gotta upgrade your existing account.

Thanks for the advice,
I tried to call customer service and upgrade my account to the new credit card, but they said they can't do it, and I think it's because I've been denied for this CC in the past 8 months...
Is there anyway to get around this? This is so ridiculous that they won't let me upgrade to the new and better Credit Card...
What if I threaten to cancel?
