Default Hooters credit card got me FIRED?!

You are NOT going to believe this! I have been a Hooters credit card holder for years and have liked the rewards program because it gives me 5 points per dollar at Hooters restaurants and 1 point on everything else. I love the Hooters card.

Get this so I'm out to lunch with 2 coworkers and my boss because we are out of town at this business conference. I generously get my Hooters credit card out to pay for everyones tab and instead of my boss being thankful that I'm paying with my credit card she gets all high and mighty say "Why do you have a Hooters credit card." She wasn't asking a question but saying it in a tone to like talk down to me with this snarl on her fugly face.

I tell her why I have it and how I like Hooters and she gets so offended it was unbelievable. She acted like I was the worst man alive and then goes off on this pro-female woman power speech acting like she should be on a pedestal. It was unbelievable.

Then the next monday I get called into her office and told she has to let me go. She was all vague and everything about her reasoning saying that the I'm not a good fit for the position. I can't help but think that my Hooters card is what must have pissed her off to do this. Why else would she fire me right after?

Woman like this need to stop with there high and mighty crap and realize there is nothing wrong with Hooters it is just a restaurant for crying out loud!!!!

What exactly did you say? Maybe it wasn't the Hooters credit card or the fact that you like Hooters, but something you said that offended her.

Which bank issues the Hooters card anyway?

What I said was NOTHING to get fretted out over. Like saying I like the Hooters menu and the uniform the girls wear. I did say the girls are hot but what's wrong with that I am complimenting them. In her rant back she said "girls are not decorations" and crap like that.
Mine is a Merrick bank Hooters card.

I think you should sue your former employer. Call your local news station; they love stuff like this. You may never work in that town again, though. Get your Hooters to host a benefit for you. I'm serious. Make a You Tube video...If this story is for real, you could take this all kinds of places. Hooters would love the publicity, too.

    I like jeffysdad suggestion!

Give us an update tcoops this situation could be used to your advantage. Because you are so enthusiastic about the Hooters credit card I bet they would hook you up real good if you got publicity for this.

If you aren't comfortable sharing the name of the company can you at least tell us what type of company it is, what line of work you are in?

IIRC, buying things/service at hooters is quite expensive, so 5 points on the dollar isn't really giving you any benefit. But if you insist on going there anyway, than I guess it's better than nothing...

Your boss could have some REAL reasons for firing you, though it is true women are very competitive with each other, and that could be part of it.

I believe this is ***ual harrasment. You, your 2 co-workers and your Boss are at a business conference. you are having lunch, you pick up the tab for everyone, your boss talks snarly to you. what you could say to her, this is a personal card. What she could say is because were out here on business you can't use this card. you can use the card when your alone but you can't be fired for using a personal card at any restaurant.

Now if you had a chase Ink and you went to a gentlemen's club and used it in back rooms, your boss ran into you and saw your using a company card like that she can't let you go. But Not the Hooters card that's a personal card .
