I understand.

I'm not much good at that kind of thing (making stuff up). And what if they call my bluff? I don't like to bluff - I am pretty straightforward and if I say I'm going to cancel I mean it. Doesn't mean I can't be talked out of it, as Associated did when I called to cancel that (for which I'm grateful now) but if I say it, I mean it. Just not my style to be any other way.

I think I'll just pay the fee this year and give it another year and see what happens. With looking to buy a home I'd like to keep all the cash on hand I can, but the 95 won't make or break me.

You aren't going to take advantage of the travel perks. PC to the regular Sapphire with no AF and use it for 2x dining when it's not a 5% restaurant category for the Freedom.

With that said, the Cash+ gives 5% year round on dining so for me it's better than the Freedom and Sapphire non-preferred.

I'm only keeping my CSP because I have 150,000 UR points and it allows me to go to Brasil roundtrip for $450 using just 15,000 UR points.

The only way to make CSP make any sense is to fly, preferably United. Since you're not doing that, I add my vote to the growing number that say "PC or cancel".

I know. Logically I'm leaning towards that. But I want to give it another year. I may need to travel for this job and if I get another I may need to travel as well. On my own time I prefer to drive. (I don't like flying, it was bad enough in the 90s and that was still way better than today. I haven't flown since 2000, but I've heard enough horror stories that I am not looking forward to it).

Granted I'm certainly not getting value from the card right now, but my current inclination is to give it another year (once I pay the fee there is no point in doing anything until it's up for the fee again) and see if things change.

If I KNEW for a fact I'd never fly, the smart thing would be to PC to Sapphire or just move limit to Freedom and close. I'm not 100% I won't fly so I think I want to leave my options open.

When I recently moved my CL from my united card to my CSP and closed the united, I had just paid the AF on the united card a couple months prior. Much to my surprise, they credited me the AF about a week later without me asking. So you may get it back even if you PC after the fee is paid.

I think I'll suck it up another year. Who knows what the future may bring. Honestly I'm trying to save for a house but the 95 dollars won't make or break me it would just be nice to keep in the account, but I think I'll keep it another year and just re-evaluate at this time next year.
