One of the things I called about was a security issue, and it was very disheartening to me that I simply could not contact them via phone.

I decided that even as much as Verizon porks me, my cellphone bill just wasn't high enough to care about keeping the card, so I let it go. I had been using it for everything not just the 5% categories.

So now others get the swipes. With the way the card is now I still don't see a use for it, personally. And not being able to get ahold of them when I need to would scare me even if I did see a use for it.

That's why. In case you were wondering if they tried to talk me into keeping it, they did not. That was right after they nerfed it, and frankly they were probably happy I was closing it, or at least it didn't bother them.

Nowadays I just use mine to pay my cell phone bill and gym membership. The 5% on restaurants/fast food, but the whole experience of using this card feel so second rate, I'd rather put all my restaurant spend on my Amazon Visa.
Blue Cash Preferred ($24K), Costco TrueEarnings ($8K), Better Balance Rewards ($6K), CashForward ($15K), Sallie Mae Rewards ($10K), Quicksilver ($17K), AARP Rewards ($15K), Freedom ($15K), Double Cash ($16.5K), It ($28.5K), Fidelity Investment Rewards ($18K), Cash+ ($11K)

Haven't dealt with US Bank for credit card products but had to deal with them for a car purchase since they were the lien holder on the vehicle. Given my experience with that I'm not surprised.

how do you not at least meet 95.00 that like two tanks of gas and if you use it restaurants the points are doubled it is a good travel card but i also use my preferred for dinning out and getting special access to events that normally wouldn't have even known about. to each its own but that yearly fee is nothing compared to other top of line cards.

It doesn't work that way, he needs to spend $4,750-$9500 (depending on where that money is spent) to pay for AF. Also, he has 2 other travel cards that have a higher CL which he values. Plus, he doesn't care for aesthetics of the card which I am quite the opposite. So makes sense to me CSP is the odd man out.

You could try calling and asking for the retention dept. and say you're looking at canceling and moving to the Amex Platinum. Some people have had success at getting either a statement credit or a generous UR points bonus.

I could but if I did it would be a total fabrication. Even if Amex would approve the Platinum (and last time I applied for it, they blacklisted me) I could never use the perks to get any value out of it. I'm even questioning whether the Gold is worth the 125 fee to me. It's borderline but I don't want to close it, so....I'll just bite that. But if it was 450, I don't see how I could justify that. I don't fly and hope not to, though I would like to travel (longer road trips) so I can use travel cards (possibly for work at some point if nothing else) but sure can't see 450.

I may just keep it and pay the fee give it another year and see what happens. I'm not really using it as intended now but once I take the initial pain (the fee) I have some time to see if this changes.

I do feel it's good to evaluate cards with fees yearly to see if you really get value from them. No fee cards are a no brainer but once the fees come into play, you gotta get something out of it.

I didn't mean you actually have to sign up for the Platinum card. I just meant use the threat of switching as a reason for canceling to the retention person you speak to.
