Advice on chase sapphire

Postby RRMATT » Wed May 07, 2014 12:41 am

I just applied for a chase sapphire and got approved with a 5k credit access line.

Ive been reading the Credit access line makes this a visa signature, true ?

anyways I didnt apply for the preferred because i thought i might get declined. Is there any chance by me calling chase to switch it to the preferred card?

Thanks in advance :)

To answer your first question, yes, Sapphire and Sapphire Preferred are only issued as Visa Signature products directly from Chase. It may still be possible to obtain a World MasterCard version by applying via the MasterCard website... They are issued with a minimum $5k limit.

As far as I understand, the qualifications for Sapphire and Sapphire Preferred are identical; if you were approved for Sapphire you probably would have been approved for the preferred version. Someone correct me if I am wrong about the qualifications...

How long ago did you apply? This I am far from sure of, but you may be able to call and switch to the preferred. Only way to find out is to call... They may tell you that you have to apply separately; I know it is possible to have both versions of the card. Worst case scenario, if you are declined for the Sapphire Preferred because Chase won't issue you another $5k credit line then you can reapply in 13 months and, if declined, call the recon line and ask to transfer your Sapphire credit line to the Preferred and close the Sapphire. Make sense?

Is this chase recon line 888-245-0625? Anyone know ?
I'll try to call them when they open today at 9am.
Thanks

Definitely research before apping. We (and even others on other credit sites) would have been happy to address your concern.

So I called the recon lime and the lady actually chuckled that I would ask to be consider for a pref. nonetheless she said to reapply and call back to cancel the standard card.

To my surprise I got the csp, didn't need to sapphire cards so I called back and canceled the other one.

Hopefully you don't get two HPs, although I suspect you will. Congrats either way

Congrats on both your initial application and your upgrade to CSP. Quite the coup!

Regarding AMEX, are you considering Gold or Premier Rewards Gold? Difference in annual fees, $125 vs $175. Difference in bennies as well.
Retired, and in the process of retiring cards!
