Chase Saphire Preferred Requirements

Postby topoftheworld » Mon Apr 07, 2014 2:39 am

Hello,
I'd like to apply for a Chase Sapphire Preferred.

I have a credit score of ~730 on Credit Karma
I currently have a Chase Freedom $1500 CL 100% on time payments
Have banked with Chase for 1.5 years
Credit history is only 16 months
Income is $125k

What are my odds of being approved or of having a successful recon?

Thanks for your input

I'd say you have good odds. I'm surprised your limit on your Freedom is so low given your income. Do you run much through it?

Eh, your odds are decent. The one thing that might hurt you is that Chase doesn't like to give you your first "big" credit line, and the CSP is only issued at CLs of $5k and up.

Try the chase prequalified page. If it lists the CSP your chances are good. I'd try doing a cli on the freedom first though. Offer a limit transfer if you have to recon

I'd say your chances of instant approval are good. You have the Chase card + have a relationship outside of credit. The only thing that may hinder it would be excessive inquiries. If you get the "decision pending", call up the recon and elaborate on the relationship. My 10 year relationship with BoA has provided me with approvals + higher limits.

I think the odds are good, because: Existing relationship with Chase on 2 levels, and both over a year old. Assuming no late payments on the Freedom or other baddies showing up on Experian, etc, OP should be good to go with that income and over a year with the Freedom and bank accounts with Chase. Chase seems to be getting pretty liberal with their credit limits here lately, so I don't think it's going to be very difficult to get 5K out of them. I wouldn't be surprised if OP's initial CL is > 5K.

I thought about this but since a user-initiated CLI requires a hard pull I figured I would apply for CSP and if denied on recon ask for a Freedom CLI

You're in. I have a credit score of 740 and make around 75K. I was approved for $5,000 and three months later they automatically raised my credit by $2,000

I never got a pull on my cli when I requested one. Maybe others can chime in?
