MC world elite

Postby linuxmachine » Mon Mar 24, 2014 5:54 pm

Was thinking of giving it a try to see what it's all about. The Citi cards have high AF that I'd rather avoid, so I found a handful that can be attained one bar lower:

the new Hawaiian Airlines card
the GM card
Saks 5th by Capitol one

The hawaiian has AF but the other two dont. On the flip side, the Hawaiian offers the most use of the 3. Does anyone know if there are any other cards eligible for WE? If it comes down to it, I'll just pass, as it's a just for fun type of deal. I just thought maybe I can use it to explore other vacation options later this year :)

There's the Ameriprise WEMC ($150 AF) and I think there's a United Presidential Plus Chase World Elite MC.

I can't tell you if either is good/great, however.

Supposedly, the Barclay Rewards mastercard also comes in a WE version.

My Virgin Atlantic card is MasterCard World Elite - there are two flavours.. I believe the "white" card has no AF. The "black" card has a $90 AF.

interesting option, although I don't cross the atlantic often enough, I could still book on VX for domestic. The white card, i found out, is 49/year btw :)

Many of Citibank's MasterCard's are eligible for a World Elite upgrade (Dividend, Cash Returns, Thank You Preferred). The only caveat of course is that you already have to have one and then you have to request the upgrade.

I got my Dividend World MasterCard upgraded to World Elite in December. The only differences that I can see are: credit limit is called Revolving Credit Line (because you can charge in excess of the revolving line); dedicated customer service number, concierge and the best part for me: the silver/holograph MasterCard logo.

There is also the BofA Virgin Atlantic World Elite MasterCard.

Unfortunately that is just the foundation for the design. I have the AAdvantage WEMC and it looks real cheap.
American Express (2005): Premier Rewards Gold & Blue Cash Preferred
Chase: Freedom & UA Club USAA: Signature Visa & American Express
Discover it Bank of Hawaii Hawaiian Airlines WEMC Synchrony Sam's MC
Navy FCU Platinum Visa Citi Double Cash & AT&T Access MC
