MileagePlus Explorer (Need Help)

Postby Apricot » Sun Feb 23, 2014 4:01 pm

Greetings. I just got approved for a MileagePlus Explorer card but I am somewhat confused, mostly about earning points.

For example, if I book from Expedia and its a united flight will I get double points ?
How about booking Star Alliance flights. Can I get double points by booking with Turkish airlines for example.

I have a Chase Sapphire card (Regular) can I use that to get double points on dining and transfer those points 1:1 to united miles thru chase ?

To your first set of questions, I don't know.

To the second question, it looks like you can't:
Chase Freedom ($2.5K, 10/2009)
Discover it ($6K; 03/2011)
Amex BCE ($19.5K; 02/2013 - 2011 BD)

Unfortunately, in order to earn double flights you must book through United Airlines.

What are you using to do your research? The creditor's site is generally a good starting point.

"You, as the primary cardmember, will earn a total of 1 mile for each $1 of Net Purchases. You will earn an additional 1 mile for each $1 of Net Purchases (for a total of 2 miles) where United Airlines is identified as the merchant on your monthly credit card statement. Therefore, United purchases on some discount travel websites and on board will not qualify for the stated rewards offer."

Nope. You'd need the CSP to transfer. Again, details are on the creditor's site. Read carefully.
