Maybe 39K is the limit with what chase is comfortable giving you? Just speculation though.

Is the Ritz Elite program the same as the Marriott Elite program? So Ritz card gives you Gold status, is that the same as Marriott Gold status? So Silver, Gold and Platinum are the same across the board? When you earn Gold in Ritz, you earn Gold in Marriott also?

Yes it is the same between the two programs, although slightly different benefits from one to the other.

Good to know, I rarely stay at a Ritz but frequent Marriott. I don't reach 50 nights a year to get automatic Gold but more like 30-40 so I maintain Silver. If I get the Ritz card (possibly upgrade from Marriott card) I'll receive automatic Gold and to get upgrades and other things when I stay at Marriott properties also, correct?

With the $200 airline credit and upgrades, the upgrade to the Ritz card may be worth the annual fee, but I see the Ritz card doesn't offer a free night every year.

Other thing to be aware of is you need $10K annual spend on the card to maintain your gold status in the following years.
