My partner has a Chase Amazon card. I want to say it's almost a year old. It only has $1k credit limit (he had a Best Buy card in 2009 and had some troubles with it.) I called Chase for a $3k limit and it was denied.
I called the backdoor number and right away the lady brought up the request and saw that the Best Buy card was from 2009 and everything has been fine since. She increased the limit almost instantly! I wonder if I should have shot for $5k
I also got him on the Amex Blue Cash Preferred. We'll do the 61 day CLI and then between these 2 cards he'll finally have credit cards with a credit limit of over $2k. This seemed to be hurting him since creditors wanted to see credit limit with at least $2k or more.
That Best Buy card really messed up his credit history. It was his first card and didn't understand that if you don't pay off the balance by the end of the 12-month 0% APR promotion, all that interested gets tacked on in the end
