Don't Get the Ritz-Carlton Card

Postby MrMosby » Fri Feb 07, 2014 8:01 pm

It actually is a really good card, but it's made out of the same hardcoded titanium that the Centurion card is. Cool right? Except it's heavy and 7 out of 10 times folks ask you about it.

Waitress: Where did you get that from?
Me: You need to own a Ritz-Carlton hotel
Waitress: Ohhh, would you like another drink
Me: No thanks.

I get asked about my CSP pretty often but you wouldn't suggest getting the card because people ask you about it?

Ok and I really thought that you had a legit reason behind not getting the card. I really don't card if a card is made of metal or not. Just what it can do for me.

Yeah I've been asked about the CSP too, quite a few times. It's the ONLY card I have that gets more than a passing glance (no one looks twice at an Amex Gold these days). Doesn't bother me.

Likewise with the CSP. I don't use my BCE like I used to, but when I did, many people commented on it. I have been using my Discover for now.

I have the CSP also, and this gets way more attention than the CSP. The CSP is laminated aluminum. The Ritz is hard coated steel like the Centurion is. I can only imagine the attention the Centurion holders get with it being that heavy and being the "real" black card on top of it.

To give you an idea, here's a YouTube video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJlfg3gHDQg

I've had a few people look at my Marriott Rewards card funny after I gave it to them and one told me it was "really heavy." But I could care less. All I care about is the stack of free hotel stays I will be getting. I just booked my first free night that I received for signing up a few minutes ago. :)
