Interesting Capital One CLI there...

Postby kelvSYC » Wed Jan 29, 2014 11:25 pm

I know that people are always amazed by large CLIs from conservative lenders. Never thought it would happen to me with my PlayStation card. And it's the second CLI in the past year as well. (And I don't have a long American credit history, so the first CLI is Capital One's obligatory "newcomer" CLI that came with the offer.)

Interesting, but has anyone else gotten (proportionally) large CLIs from Capital One in the past?

Nope. I never got a single CLI from Cap One EVER. Have no idea what that's like. And at this stage I hope to never find out.

I got capital one back in 2010. Over the years I got some CLI's and now the limit is 2.5K total on CO card.

I have two capital one cards (2006,07) and I have never received any type of auto cli. I Have never missed a payment, been late, and there has never been a baddie on my credit report.

I have gotten one cli on each card, but I had to call the EO office to get it. When it comes to capital one, I wish everyone the best of luck.

I opened my Capital One in 1998; my first card. Initial credit line $300---->$1,000 (4/99)---->$2.250 (2/00 upgraded to Gold MasterCard)---->$2,700 (11/00)----->$5,700 (5/01)----->$7,700 (self initiated 9/01)------->$9,700 (8/02 self initiated)----->$10,000 (2007 after they sent a letter asking what they could do to improve my card, I didn't want an upgrade or anything to change my 10.9% FIXED apr so I said, "well, I'd like an even $10,000 limit" and they did). In 2005 it was automatically upgraded to a Platinum No Hassle Rewards card, no CLI; and just this past November they automatically changed it to a Platinum Venture One again no CLI.

As you can see, my experience with them goes back years and I have not met anybody else that had as much luck as I did with them. I received two huge (by Cap1 standards) back in 2001; they obviously have since changed their underwriting practices and are not as generous.

You will likely top out at $3K on your PlayStation card. Generally speaking new applicants with great credit can get high limits on a Venture or Platinum Premium (or whatever they call it) card; but rebuilder or builder cards rarely go above $3K.

What do you mean... you don't want a card from an issuer which pulls hard on all three every time, doesn't give CLI's unless you beg the EO and lick their CEO's boots clean, AND has the absolute worst CSR's in the business?

For a card that isn't my primary card, used to have the lowest limit out of the American cards I have, and is mainly used for buying stuff from PSN and exchanging it for Sony swag, I can deal with that, I suppose.

I think the CLI also caused a spike in the FAKOs that I track. Have to see if there was a spike in the real scores too...
