US Bank Cash+ ... What's wrong with these guys??

Postby jorlox » Sun Jan 26, 2014 5:54 pm

Hi folks,

I am sure you have heard about US Bank before I did. Despite the bad changes that its Cash+ Card suffered, I am still interested in this card. The point is that to apply for it, it states "in branch only", I live in Florida and there are not branches in 1000 miles around. What's wrong with these guys from US Bank? Why do they restrict this card like this?

Do you guys have tried to get this card, even if you are away from their branches, and NOT CARRYING ANY OTHER US BANK CARD? What do you recommend me (other advise than move to other state :oooo ) ? Thank you very much for your time reading my thread!

As far as I've read they have restricted this card to areas of the country they service hence why they ask you to apply in a branch location.

So because there is no branch near you I would just let this one go until they change their policy, if they ever do, or you move to an area they service.

Don't want to fan the flames, but Discover will get you 5% on at least a few cataories, and quite a lot of on line partners.

I was able to PC to it from the Cash Rewards 6 months after I got that card, to be honest it's been a disappointment. It might give 5% cash back on restaurants and fast food, but for some reason I just don't like using it. Transactions take forever to post, restaurants and fast are considered different categories, the mobile app looks dated, I dunno. I'd much rather pull out my CSP or TrueEarnings than this card to pay at a restaurant.

I was looking at either the discover it or us bank cash+ and I decided to go with the discover it. The us bank cash+ is TOO bland in terms of looks. I care about the perks and benefits too but at least put some effort on the card's design. I bet if the CSP looked like crap I would not have gotten it.

I don't see how the IT is that much different in terms of looks - they are both single color cards with no real artwork.

Personally I don't care what the card looks like only what it does for me.

Nothing's wrong with them. If they want to stipulate in branch only that's their call. If you think something's wrong with them then why would you want to do business with them? There are a number of cards out there that have such limitation or similar limitations. Why do you think you're entitled to the card?

Find another card.

I use it for restaurants. I don't eat at fast food places too often, so I don't use it there. I mostly use the 2% category for drugstores. If this card still had bill pay, it would be the best cash back card on the market.

My 5/3 is my least favorite card and have only used it to pay my cell phone bill. I would not use it for any other purchases because the cash back % is not great compared to my other cards.

Both cards are simple but the cash+ is literally simple. At least the It has a design and you have other options to pick from for a design.
