Citi Exec / AAdvantage World Elite MC

Postby rockyrock » Fri Jan 24, 2014 7:52 pm

I pulled the trigger today and got the Citi AA WEMC; with my upcoming relocation and the sign on bonus I couldn't resist.

75k miles after $7500 spend in 3 mos. Kind of high but with relocation expenses and an expensive family photo shoot I should have no problem making it in the first two mos.

I'm now back up to 12 active cards...I have been trying to get down to 10 so this doesn't help in this area at all. I think this has solidified closing my Amex Plat this year though as I cannot justify two cards with AFs at $450 or higher.

The card comes with Admirals Club access and with Amex losing most of its club access this year I will get more value not to mention free checked bags for my family.

...and it is my first World Elite MC :D

Now to figure out what cards to close...

Oh, details: had to call to verify info but was approved in under 10 minutes from the time I started the online app process. Initial CL $19k which is about $5k higher than my avg. CL of $14.1k

Congrats on the approval. Relocating sucks but you should hit that $7,500 spend easily especially if leaving HI for the mainland.

You may want to call in and see if they will increase your offer to the 100k one.

I just applied and was accepted. I have 2 other active Citi AA cards which I have not used either in 6 months+ but they still approved me for the Executive card with 100k mile offer for spending $10k plus $200 in statement credits.

I thought about that. I could probably make the $10k spend as well since I have so many expenses related to moving and such...I'll call and see when my card arrives.

Thanks

I have to add, I called yesterday just to verify where they shipped it since my mailing addy is different that my physical addy. All I can say is Citi has nothing on Chase or Discover when it comes to CS. Even after the rep identified me as an "Elite" customer that is "very valuable" I was transfered around and the rep that finally helped me was completely apathetic to my concerns.

In fairness he answered all my questions he just didn't go out of his way to make sure my concerns were addressed. Not what I had hoped for a card with a $450 AF...then again it was on par with Amex Platinum CS...

That is why the fees I pay for AmEx are worth it. I end every phone call with a smile.

When I said they were on par with Amex Platinum I meant tied for 3rd place after Chase and Discover. When I can call and get a US based CS rep every time I will be content with Amex.

There is actually a 100k bonus if you look around for it...check out The Points Guy website.
