Any reason the Sallie Mae card doesn't show up here?

Postby chas0039 » Tue Jan 21, 2014 6:50 pm

I'm not complaining, as I already found it, but is there any particular reason that the Sallie Mae card doesn't show up here in any reviews or listings? Other Barclaycards show up and have links and, even with limits, 5% on groceries is not bad.

I actually was just approved for that earlier today. 5% back on gas, groceries, and essentially amazon every month is not bad at all. Would have never known it existed if it wasn't for the fico forums. It isn't even listed on Barclay's site

Many of these blogs/forums post the same cards as they get referral bonuses for sign-ups. Possible that the SM card doesn't offer this perk and/or the $250 cap/month makes this a limited use card for someone with a higher income. I spend at least $250 month on gas & groceries and it would be annoying to have to constantly monitor when switch over to my BCE or other CB card.

Not saying it isn't a good card. It's actually quite nice. And a WMC to boot.

I also applied for this but was turned down. Reasons was that I did not have enough history and I had student loans. Both of these reasons I find ridiculous since it seems that they are marketing the card to college students. Why else would they have the book bonus on there with low limits on the other categories? It is a perfect card for a student.

There's a page here but it's outdated (prior to Barclay):

I wouldn't rely solely on blogs for the referral reason stated above. They're basically credit card ads.
