Citi Forward Bonus Categories Gutted

Postby dlgoldamex » Sat Jan 18, 2014 7:29 pm

All good things must come to an end, I suppose.

I just looked at the Citi Forward For College Students application page, and found that it now offers only 1 point for all purchases, "Unless you are participating in a promotional offer," which basically makes the card a shadow of its former self. Hopefully I am grandfathered into the 5 points at Bookstores/Movie Theaters/Restaurants/Record Stores, or else this card will be permanently sock-drawered.

You should be grandfathered. If you're not sure, call them and ask them. They'll send you mail confirming your status. That's what I did and they sent me a letter.

Checking over my statement, I earned around 300 points and received around 800 bonus points, plus 100 more for paying the previous statement on time.

If you're grandfathered, it's still working.

That said, it's better to use the Discover IT, where you get 5% cashback for the same bookstore/restaurant purchases. Cash back is much better than trying to cull together points. ;)

Haha what rock have you been living under? This change is actually very old news. Program was gutted awhile ago. Anyone that got the card prior to its devaluation is grandfathered in. Yay for us!
