Instantly approved for Barclay's Arrival World MC (annual fee version)

Postby dlgoldamex » Sat Jan 18, 2014 7:12 pm

I already thought I had more than enough credit cards, but I'm going to be spending 5 months abroad starting next month, and with the 0% introductory APR's running out on all of my credit cards that offered it, I thought I might want to apply for a card just in case I need to carry a balance while I'm not working for the next five months. So, after some research, I decided on the Barclaycard Arrival. I plan to use this card for a year to take advantage of the 0% APR, $400 signup bonus, and effective 2.2% rewards. I will probably close this card after a year, as I don't spend quite enough money to make the return better on this card than my BankAmericard Travel Rewards (though it's close).
I also travel quite a lot and I think this card will come in handy for me this semester. And, now I have a World Mastercard, to boot!
Gold Delta Skymiles -AU- $25k- 4/12
Citi Forward Visa- $6.1k- 8/12
Amex Gold Delta Skymiles- $3.8k- 1/13
BofA Travel Rewards Visa Sig- $5k- 1/13
Amex Blue Cash Everyday- $5k- 7/13
Barclaycard Arrival WEMC- $5k-1/14
Cap One Quicksilver Visa Sig- $10k- 4/15

Congratulations! I'm really liking this card. It sounds like you'll be able to make great use of it!

Yeah, I am excited for my first travel rewards card! Only thing about it is I wish it had a chip.

I have put my first two purchases on the card and already met minimum spend. (...thanks a lot, car repair bill...).

My second purchase was for an airport shuttle service reservation. I am hopeful it will post as a travel merchant so I can use the sign-up bonus miles and get their full value. Same goes for my check bag fee but I am 99% sure that will be coded as an airline charge.
Citi Forward ($10.1K), AmEx Blue Cash Everyday ($30K), Chase Freedom ($12.4K), Discover it ($5.5K), Barclaycard Arrival ($12.5K), L.L. Bean Visa ($5K). FICO 806 (TU), 812 (EQ), 806 (EX).

I just picked up my mail and I received a pre-approval for the no annual fee version. It does look like a pretty decent card. The annual fee version looks even better and has a great sign up bonus. Congrats!

No, into the shredder it went. I have waaaaay too many credit cards so no need to add another just yet. I will look at the annual fee version again before my next vacation though. I might have to apply for either it or the United Mileage Explorer card for some bonus goodness.

I know the feeling. I honestly have more than I really need, but I don't want to get rid of any of them. (My signature doesn't include the Chase Freedom I just got approved for as I'm waiting to see if it's a signature card or not before I add it). I guess I've become a credit card hoarder!
