Still haven't received my Citi card

Postby MemberSince99 » Wed Jan 08, 2014 6:31 pm

I had called them this weekend about it and the foreign rep insisted it was normal to take a long time to get the card and that I need to "give it time".

I thought that was kind of bogus but thought ok so tonight when it's still not here two weeks after they mailed it the 26th, I thought enough is enough - they are either going to cancel that number and issue me a new one, or close it - their choice. I'm not having that card out there who knows where and being liable for it, so "no just keep waiting" is not an option.

Much to my surprise an American rep from Kentucky answered. She checked the information I gave her and said that while the card was mailed the 26th it had probably been already prepared on the 23rd and sent to my former address which I can no longer access (because it's no longer there). So, I was like yeah that's bad. So she immediately cancelled that card number and set up a new one for me, and expedited it to me at no charge so it will arrive this Friday.

Man that is what I like to hear. I like when the rep can relate to what you are saying and works to help you resolve the issue. So that was great, after my mediocre experiences with the foreign reps.

I don't know if the company execs read these forums but if they do, please take note this is a good thing. We probably only call a couple of times a year, but when we do, it's because we need help and not because we are too lazy to go online and do something we could easily handle there. When we do call, we want someone who will listen to us and who we can understand and who can understand us. We don't need some half wit reading from a script, hired only because they are cheap. We aren't talking flipping burgers at McDonald's here, we are talking about financial issues. Please take that message to heart.

I personally was glad to have reached that helpful rep in Kentucky and would like to thank her for actually helping me. I don't have her name, but I appreciate her help!

I really like Citibank...wish their rewards were a bit more in tune with my spending but yeah, they are pretty good with service. Agreed too that I'd rather speak with an American or Canadian so that I can understand them and they understand me. Credit is too important to mess around with because of misunderstanding. Also, I like supporting American companies that hire Americans.

When I called on the weekend and spoke to the foreign rep who corrected my address (for the 2nd time) I could tell he was having a lot of trouble understanding me. So they struggle to understand us the same as we struggle to understand them. And that just kind of defeats the purpose of the call in the first place if you really think about it.

I was a bit worried he was going to mess up my address again, but he got it right. (The foreign rep).

I'm curious to learn how Citi is I still have no experience with them. I guess I'll find out soon.

+1

Was on the phone with Target REDcard customer service for over 45 minutes, a lot of "can you please repeat that?"s and I said "I'm sorry, I can't understand what you're saying" at least twice. Language barrier is terrible sometimes, makes me so mad to even do business.
