Citi ThankYou Preferred World MasterCard?

Postby iHackerSix » Tue Dec 31, 2013 4:03 pm

My sister just received an invite for the Citi TYP World MasterCard with 18 months 0% balance transfer offer. I just have one question, where can someone that didn't get the invite apply for this card? I've searched EVERYWHERE for this card, not the offer, just this particular card and can't find it anywhere on the web? Anyone have any input on this? I have many reasons for wanting this card, I know that TY points aren't the best but I like this card mainly because it comes as a World MasterCard, has no annual fee, and I can use the TY points for cash, miles, or gifts cards giving me flexibility. Plus, I closed my last World MasterCard due to annual fee which I don't like so that alone makes this card attractive to me. I know the no annual fee Arrival card comes in World version too but I really don't like Barclays since they gave my sister the Arrival in platinum version after she applied for the World version. Her Fico's are around 720 with 10 years history and a home purchase under her belt so I know she was credit worthy. If anyone knows of a way to apply for the MasterCard version of the Citi TYP pls let me know. Thanks.

I'm sorry I couldn't find anything about it either. Looks like maybe it was a targeted offer.

My Capital One Quicksilver also says "World" on it but searching the benefts statement indicates it has none of the World benefits and has just the regular. I get the feeling they are just tacking on the World name.

I hear ya, but I'm really just interested in applying for the MasterCard version of the Citi TYP instead of the Visa version as I already have enough Visa's and only 1 MasterCard which I plan to close anyway. If there were a link to that card I would apply but there's only link's for the Visa version =(

Is there really a difference between V and MC?

I think MC will always place second fiddle to Visa, as Visa still is accepted at more places worldwide.

I would try applying via her offer, especially if it has an online app link.
Citi Forward ($10.1K), AmEx Blue Cash Everyday ($30K), Chase Freedom ($12.4K), Discover it ($5.5K), Barclaycard Arrival ($12.5K), L.L. Bean Visa ($5K). FICO 806 (TU), 812 (EQ), 806 (EX).

Usually not for targeted offers but it's a matter that isn't one-size-fits-all. As samradh says, if she applied online you can try using the URL for her offer.

There are differences. Whether or not they matter is subjective. Acceptance is generally similar. Benefits vary a bit.
