I still have not gotten the sign up bonus Amex told me first I was eligible for when I got the card and then told me I should have received because I met the spend when I called them about it about 6 weeks ago. It's a bit ridiculous. Today is the closing date of that card. I told travis here I would wait until it closed and see if that posts, so I should know in a day or so.
But they are not making a very good impression with me here - I haven't gotten the points yet (just checked) nor ever heard a word from them on it. That's not the uber elite customer service they like to portray, but neither is the clueless foreign reps we low end card holders seem to get as often as not.
Not too happy with Amex at the moment and hence I am putting no spend on any of their cards. If I have to just use them for backdating, so be it, I can PC the revolvers to the no fee cards and just use them for that. And before the Amex lovers pipe up that doesn't hurt them any, actually it does, it takes swipes they would get paid for, and gives them to a competitor. Will it drive them under. Hell no of course not but it hurts nevertheless.
