Member, the only reason why I even considered getting the BCE was because I wanted an extra gas card, cause I really don't want to fill my tank with the statement date so close by (ie statement date is 27th and I have to fill it on the 25th.) peace of mind knowing I can pay before the statement cuts and my gas tank is filled. But if the SPG is better then I'll app for that too. Now the key question is when?

Lethargic-you described it well...lol.

congrats to everyone on their approvals!

The gardening stuff is funny -- I am all for strategic timing but waiting for the sake of waiting doesn't do you any good, esp if you have a clean report and the income to support your apps.

Congrats to gijoe that's great!

And Phoenix in the case of Amex I think even the garden fanatics would see the point of getting your door into Amex as soon as possible for backdating purposes. I think that's a clear case where it really makes sense to do it as soon as possible.

So this discussion prompted me to go over to myfico and find a gardening thread. That borders on bizarre. There are a lot of people that need to manage their credit better and I definitely see the benefit of it but that "garden club" is cultish.

The whole place is cultish. Not just the gardening, but everything.

What I find amusing is that for all the garden hype, so few of them actually display the ability to see their seedlings grow into diamond spades.

This was a priceless comment:
Not to be rude but can the social chit chat be in a separate thread from the Garden Club "meeting"? I thought the original idea of the GC was for people to report their success in staying away from app'ing? Not that I mind the social stuff, its just that it would make more sense to separate the two, especially since there are over 500 pages, it is impossible to look for specific messages. It is beginning to look like a running chat room rather than being a useful thread.

Is there a diamond spade? I've never seen that one, Gold is the highest I've ever seen and that's rare to see. The seedling is the most common one by far, meaning they are constantly app'ing.

Diamond spade would be very difficult to attain as the Garden Club allows no pulls of any kind (including mortgage, loan, CLI). Here's the breakdown:

Less than 1 month - seedling

1 month - bronze spade

3 months - silver spade

6 months - gold spade

12 months - platinum spade

24 months or more - diamond spade
Citi Forward ($10.1K), AmEx Blue Cash Everyday ($30K), Chase Freedom ($12.4K), Discover it ($5.5K), Barclaycard Arrival ($12.5K), L.L. Bean Visa ($5K). FICO 806 (TU), 812 (EQ), 806 (EX).
