So I ignored all advice from MyFico...

Discuss the Visa & MasterCard payment networks as well as cards that operate through them.

The garden is so much more than that. It's the meaning of life. It's love. It's God. It's the reason we live and breathe. Come, join us in our gardening thread, and earn your gold spade. That's FAR better than having some nice high limit cards you can really use. Be one of us, join us in the garden....

Sorry just had to go all FICO garden groupie on you there. Yes that's basically what it means I just hate the term personally because the lunatics on the FICO forum really do make it nearly some kooky religion. When I read the people on that site babbling about "gardening" it makes me want to projectile vomit but maybe that's just me.

And from what I've seen, after 6 months inquiries matter little to most lenders, and even to your score for that matter (they drop off completely after a year in terms of affecting your score though they still show for 2 years).

So congrats :) It's a good feeling isn't it?

It's a great feeling!

One thing about MyFico that always cracks me up is that despite the constant preaching about the benefits of "gardening", every single day a few people fall out of the garden. Oh, and if you want them to give you the evil eye, point out that the reason they never get CLIs on their Capital One cards is because they all have rebuilder cards.

LOL, that place is something else. I do have to admit though that some of them are actually knowledgeable (not the credit card section, but if you go over to the mortgage or Auto threads, there is some interesting stuff.) I'm waiting till December or January so that my inquiries will be a little older, still want that BCE/SPG/BCP though :) . Congrats Lethargicage on 2 good cards!

Snowman I do believe you will get your BCP, at some point. If you do enough spending on groceries it does pay. Hopefully January is the ticket.

By the way about MyFICO, they have plenty of people there who know a lot about credit cards. I mean how can you have 20 or 25 cards in your signature and NOT know anything? For that matter how can you even manage them all but that's another story.

The preachiness and judgementalism and the garden weirdness are just what you have to overlook to pick up the gems from that place. It is pretty ironic how for as much as they preach about the meaning of life being the garden, they sure do app for and get a LOT of cards.

Member, should app in a month or wait until January for the BCP/BCE/SPG? I want either one but I drive a lot, that's why it makes sense for me, don't grocery shop much, and I stay at a Starwood property if I'm not at Marriott or Holiday Inn.

Haha, every other thread is somebody falling out or "escaping"...lol.

If you're ever so bored it hurts. Take a gander at the garden thread at myFico.

It's actually properly scary, there are people who invest their time into "gardening" to the point of it being some kind of fanatical cult.

Snowman it sounds like you would make best use of the SPG. You already have 3% gas with your BofA card and BCP would only match that for a 75 dollar fee, and you wouldn't get the grocery value. And BCE is pointless then you might as well use BofA, just in terms of rewards, and Discover and Freedom both give 5% gas rotating categories anyway. So I'm not seeing you getting value from a BCP or the BCE really. SPG sounds like you could use it.

I laugh when they talk about "escaping" the garden there too, you almost could picture a Jonestown like place, where "God" is no inquiries and who would want to leave their little garden of Eden? Drink the Koolaid, what's the worst that could happen? :)

Some of those folks are fanatics. You know what they will say every time someone asks a question. Example: Should I app for XXX? Answer: NO you'd lose your bronze spade how could you live with that even if you got a 10k starting limit do NOT apply for that Duck or Beaver card or you will ruin the rest of your life which you just made shorter by leaving the garden!!!! Should I ever close a credit card? NO hell no never not even if you are paying 500 dollars a year in fees for a 200 limit card, if you do a tsunami will hit your home and kill your family even if you live 1000 miles from the coast NEVER CLOSE A CARD!!!!

For laughs I'd love to post annoying questions on there (they'd ban me very quickly I'm sure) like I work for a bank and in our daily 2 hour morning meeting today at the end when people's bladders were about to split and a few were almost dead from boredom, the meeting organizer asked "Does anyone have any further questions?" meaing our cue to escape that hell, and one of the deranged sycophants raised his hand and asked "How can we achieve total quality while maintaining customer focus and remaining market driven?" and thus prolonged the agony for another hour. I couldn't think of an answer what do you guys think?

Actually I've seen that happen and honestly I fantasized about what it would be like to strangle the person who prolonged the pain with the projector cord but that had nothing to do with the issue! :)

Speaking of FICO someone posted the question "What does PC mean" and I thought it means politically correct, like what you'd best be along with a brown noser if you want to be able to post here! But I can't post that unfortunately.....

I once posted on MyFico, "This garden you all speak of sounds like a concentration camp."
