We are still kind of stuck in "2008" though to be more accurate it was 2007 in my books
I don't think it will ever get back to the days of where people can get credit limits in the six figures, credit card limits not heloc or charge cards
People with 100-200k gross annual salary would get anywhere from 20k to 30k CL with cards like united and CSP (if you thought 5k was little..) and they generally have great to excellent credit scores.
Honestly a super high credit line doesn't really matter to me because it doesn't fit my lifestyle needs, occasionally I like to take trips..locally and internationally..but if I do i curb other purchases and will be mindful of my eating out habits (biggest indulgence when you add up, friends know I have hibernation modes).
Plus I tend to try to hunt for the best deals, like with my trip to venice/florence/paris earlier this year--all of it, airfare (direct and was less then 12 hrs) plus hotels (right on canal and French quarters) cost less then 2k.
Nyc is one of my fave places, during January/feb they have really good airfare deals.
I much rather save money by getting best deals I can, and the cashback I earn is a bonus on top of it.
It's nice to have a high credit limit but if you don't really need it why tempt yourself? At least for me, I don't want to
Maybe if I made a lot more i would like a CL above 20,25k
