JP Morgan Select huh? I know it was discontinued, but do you use it often since you have the CSP, or is it just "wallet candy"? ;) And does anyone know if the EMV chip is also coming to the Sapphire?

They said "when the update comes."

I'm guessing Monday, 11/4, is safe. I'm sure we'll hear about it when it happens.

Does anyone know if the chip will be on the front or back of the card? I would hate it to be on the front.

Placement is dictated by the EMV standard. ISO 7816-2 sets the left edge of the chip at 10.25 mm from the left side of the card and the bottom edge of the chip 19.23 mm from the top of the card. While the standard dictates that the contacts for the chip may go on the front or the back of the card (the back being defined as the side with the mag stripe), the general agreement and practice is to keep the chip on the front.

Putting the chip on the front of the card would require moving the CSP logo slightly, but there's plenty of room, overall. Putting it on the back would make it almost impossible to fit a signature area unless you move the numbers and expiration date to the front of the card. I'm guessing the chip will end up on the front.

And, in case anyone is interested, here is more than you could ever possibly want to know about EMV standards: http://www.smartcard.co.uk/tutorials/sct-itsc.pdf

CSP Customer Service is saying cards will be updated automatically. The system already showed an order in place for me. 1-2 business days via UPS.

This contradicts the Chase Twitter team (not CSP trained?) who said I'd have to call in to request an EMV-equipped card.
