Citi World MasterCard Requirements?

Postby im_mr_awesome » Sun Oct 20, 2013 11:57 pm

All good things are happening since I've been mostly gone from the forums for a few weeks. I actually received a CLI from Capital One on a Newcomer card after speaking with a customer service agent who asked my opinion of my account, of Capital One, and how I felt about the company. I expressed my displeasure, and voila, three weeks later, a $500 bump. Not a lot, but for a 24% APR card that only had a $750 limit to begin with, that's a pretty decent jump. Since I'm just paying off that card, I don't mind the util reduction.

Beyond that, Citi finally sent me my EMV chip version of the Diamond Preferred card, and it's awesome looking. What could be better? A World MasterCard version. I've never seen the requirements for the World version, so wondered if anyone here on the forums knows a rough guide? If it's anything like Visa Signature, which I imagine it is, it's $5k minimum, which my DP card is not even close to, but hopefully will be within the next 12-18 months. If income is a factor, my income should be rising to about the $40k level within the next few months from around $25k.

Any ideas?
Scores on the mend...
FICO: 654 (7/2017, AMEX), Vantage: 663 (CK)
Cards I Use Amex Premier Rewards Gold, Discover IT, Capital One QuickSilver MC, Amex Gold Delta (for the free bag)
Sock Drawer Chase Amazon, AE Visa, CareCredit, several store cards for util padding
Next Card Amex Everyday

Once your CL is $5k+ you can ask for a World version.

I don't think it's a big deal because I have never used the extra benefits. If my cards were regular MCs and Visas the only difference would be lower swipe fees for the merchants.

I'll try and look into my earlier versions of citi, because mine currently is the dividend one and I just asked for a card replacement (came with the emv chip--yay)

Once i saw this thread I looked above the mc logo and it does say world on it, I'm guessing that means its the world version?

Started my relationship with them at 16 as AU with mom
Opened my own at 18
Auto CLs, never call them for anything other then cc I have lost/stolen
Decent credit, income
No late payments, bankruptcies, etc

I thought Citi had discontinued the Diamond Preferred card and was slowly phasing out the existing ones?

That was just a rumour that the DP was being discontinued. Since I have one, I sent them a secured email, they responded that they have no intention of discontinuing the DP. Indeed, I get the BT cheques in the mail all the time, so does my son, and he's only an AU on my card!
Retired, and in the process of retiring cards!
