My approval odds for Freedom

Postby kelvSYC » Wed Oct 02, 2013 9:40 am

It's been six months since I've applied for 3 credit cards and got approved for all three. CK is reporting a FAKO of 349, but the fact I've applied for 3 credit cards six months ago might get me declined for the card, even if a soft pull on Chase's website says that I'm "prequalified".

What are your thoughts on being approved for that card?
Current Credit Scores:
VantageScore 3.0 - 760 TU, 764 EX (11-19-16, Credit Karma)
FICO 8 - 747 EX (10-22-16, AmEx statement)
Discover - 750 TU (11-4-16, Discover statement)

Current Credit Cards:
RBC - $8000 CAD
BoA - $13500 USD
Capital One - $2750 USD
AmEx BCE - $4000 USD
Discover It - $8000 USD

349? Hope that's a typo!

Its an easy target. If you don't get instant approval just call them up.

Its a typo, see the OP's signature.

I honestly think the OP has a very good chance of getting the Freedom card.

Anecdotally, it appears that Chase has loosened up the Freedom and Slate approval algorithms recently. Every site with an average and lowest approved score looks like it dropped enough to easily include the 640-680 score ranges in the region where people can get approved more often, which were not necessarily included before.

I just app's them and got an instant approval with a really large cash line relative to the whole credit limit (a little under 60%) limit 10.4k. Granted my data is a sample size of one, I wonder if anyone else has any information on the offer.

Additionally the Barclays Rewards for Average credit might be an option. Its average and lowest approved scores have decreased recently on the couple sites that I found had the data displayed. Anyone heard anything on that offer?

I get pre-approved Barclaycard Rewards MC mailings at least twice a month. Something tells me it's too easy to get and I'd rather aim higher.

Barclay's no AF Arrival World MC is more interesting, but it doesn't have an EMV chip, which I think is key for a travel card.

It's nice that Chase is loosening up, but as a prime lender it might just be strategic for the upcoming holidays. The 4Q Amazon 5% reward is sure to attract a lot of people.
