Current opinions of the US bank cash plus

Postby beef.stu » Tue Sep 24, 2013 12:04 pm

I am looking at this card and I feel like it would be good to use as a dedicated fast food/restaurant card for my credit lineup.

For those of you that have this card, in what increments can you redeem your cash back?

also, do you guys like the website? Having a good website to manage my card is pretty important to me.

I have the card and use it as my resturant/fast food card. I spend a lot eating out so it works out nicely. When my Discover is doing 5% on dining I will switch the Cash + to some other categories.
Wallet:
AMEX BCP: 9K (2012) (every day expenses, gas, groceries, department stores)
AMEX Zync: NPSL (2011) (large expenses)
AMEX Costco: 4k (2013) (Costco, gas, and restaurants)
Discover IT: 5K (2010)
PenFed Plat Rewards Visa: 3K (2012) (Gas, Target)
USAA Plat MC: 7K (2010) (everyday expenses, places that do not take Amex or Discover)
US Bank Cash+: 7K (2012)
Target REDCard 3k (2013)

us bank

Postby craigm1 » Tue Sep 24, 2013 9:33 pm

Not to gripe but I got the card last summer and the main reason was for bill pays, they took that away because people were abusing it. They had no cap on quarerly spending at 5% now there is a cap. If you redeemed $100 at a clip you got an extra $25 now you can only do that once a year. The icing on the cake I called for a credit line increase Amex has done line increases several times with no hard pulls. I told the person at usbank if a credit line increase was hard pull not to do it. She said definitely not and they did hard pull. I actually had them pull the recordings to rectify this after 3 months a letter to them. My card sits in my desk draw I don't care about the 5% I'm losing on my cell bill or restaurants back to amex cash blue and Chase Sapphire Pref. Anytime they see customers exploiting what they put into place they change the rules. I have the original cash blue amex they have honored all the original terms and I have no grocery limit like the new card. They should have grandfathered existing customers into the old program

I just realized that this card has a minimum income requirement. something like 30k? Being a student, I dont quite make that much :(

Unless someone else has gotten this card with an income lower than that, I will probably just go for a Discover It for my holiday shopping this season. 5% online will stack nicely with the Discover Mall.

An added bonus will be that they will stop filling my mailbox up with their damn Discover It applications haha

does anyone know if they issue cards to New Jersey residents. I've heard of people being rejected because they are out of their lending area.

Same here. This card turned out to be a huge disappointment. You only get to pick one everyday (2%) category, fast food and restaurants are separate categories, transactions take forever to post, the website hasn't been updated since Clinton was president...
Blue Cash Preferred ($24K), Costco TrueEarnings ($8K), Better Balance Rewards ($6K), CashForward ($15K), Sallie Mae Rewards ($10K), Quicksilver ($17K), AARP Rewards ($15K), Freedom ($15K), Double Cash ($16.5K), It ($28.5K), Fidelity Investment Rewards ($18K), Cash+ ($11K)

Haha! I thought I was the only one who thought their website looked like something from a decade or two ago.

EDIT - Also, (sort of related?) I looked at the USBank Flexperks Travel Rewards Visa Signature card (The black one with the EMV chip) and it looks like a extremely amazing card. The point/mileage conversion has to be one of the best I've ever seen. $49 annual fee as well.
Capital One Secured AU | $1851 | 10/2013

Citi Bank Double Cash | $1000 | 03/13/2016
Chase Amazon Visa | Pending | 03/13/2016

Yeah its not the best freaking thing possible but 5% on Restaurants or Fast Food is still a good deal. Especially if you spend several hundred dollars a month eating out.

I use the Restaurants and Electronic Stores 5% categories because I spend far more on those 2 than on Fast Food. For Fast Food, I use my Citi Forward which is 4% when I redeem on Amazon.com. (You can get 5% if you have a TY card but I don't).

It just all depends on how much you spend in those categories. It could definitely be very worthwhile.

Citi Forward Visa: 5% restaurants/fastfood, movie theaters, amazon.com
Discover It: 5% rotating
SallieMae MC: 5% Groceries, Gas, Amazon
US Bank Cash+ Visa Signature: 5% electronic stores, restaurants
Sock Drawered: Chase Sapphire, Chase Amazon[/size]
