2013 First Niagara Secured Credit Card: Is It a Good Choice?

Postby likpel » Sun Sep 15, 2013 2:34 pm

When you are rebuilding your credit score with a secured account, does it matter whether it's a Mastercard or Visa or which bank it is from?

Because I am contemplating the one from First Niagara Bank, since it is local in my area. The downside though is I see little reason in wanting to grow with them (after my credit improves) because their regular unsecured cards have poor rewards programs.

Do you think getting their secured credit card would be a good choice. Or should I get one from an issuer like Chase or Capital One that I might want to actually grow with over time once my credit reaches that stage.

Before you apply for the First Niagara secured card or another bank, I recommend checking to see if you are pre-selected for any card offers. Who knows, you might be surprised by the results.
