And lastly, The Thank You Preferred

Postby catsartcox » Mon Sep 09, 2013 4:23 pm

If anyone recalls a good few months ago I laid put a plan to move my main cards from basic student cards to more prime card. A few days ago I applied for the Thank you preferred and I was approved. With a 5000 CL

Now, I have a full wallet with everything I would need for years to come, Later down the road I plan to merge my now two Citi cards. But seeing how yesterday they denied my CLI request on the forward(no pull). I imagine that will be way down the road.

Something else, Today I pulled a new report from AMEX's service and in spite of the two new inquires on it(discover CLI and CITI), my score went up, now at 734 from 731. I am now in their "Very low risk" pool.

yay!

Edit: I just called about the Forward CLI. I just requested one to soon. I thought it was every 4 months not 6th.

Sounds like a good plan, except one thing:

I don't think Citi allows you to consolidate credit limits anymore. The only time they allow you to shift credit is when you have tapped out your overall limit with Citi and try to open a new card. At that point, they'll let you move from an older card to the newer one.

I hope I'm wrong, though. If you get them to do it, please report back. I have some Citi limits I'd like to shift around.

Yeah, I talked to a senior rep the other day. She told me that it can happen, but it is only a request. Sometimes one that needs a hard pull.

How long ago? And, did you move the limit first and then close?

Two weeks ago. I informed the CSR of my desire to close the account and she was morning than willing to say "I can transfer X amount of the card you're closing over to a different account if you'd like!"

Naturally I took her up on that offer. Keeps the utilization nice and low.
