Chase: Twitter > Secure Messaging

Postby djrez4 » Fri Sep 06, 2013 1:14 pm

My Freedom card turned 12 months old back at the end of July, which meant it was time to upgrade it to a Visa Signature.

Secure messages via the Chase website went nowhere. I received responses that ranged from the equivalent of "Huh?" to "Sorry, we can't do that for you."

After great success with @AskAmex, I figured @ChaseSupport would be worth a shot as well. One tweet got me into a direct message conversation with Chase, yesterday.

They asked for my name and zip code for ID purposes. While Chase's Twitter program is not as robust as Amex's, with which they can match your Twitter handle to your account and store the link for later, name and zip isn't too shabby and is something I feel comfortable giving out over the web, especially in a direct message. Heck, catsartcox probably has my home address written down somewhere anyway. (Stop by, buddy! I have some beer in the fridge.)

This morning, I got a call on my cell from a Chase rep in Illinois. I had to call her back because I had a client on hold. She gave me a direct number, no extension! After verifying income and mortgage payment, she was able to upgrade my Freedom.

Moral of the story - when in doubt, try Twitter. It works.

Nice work not taking no for an answer. I called them when my Freedom turned 13 months requesting an upgrade to Signature and was given various baloney responses. I did get somewhere SM them.

Does having the Freedom for 12 months in good standing automatically qualify it to be upgraded to Signature status?

Chase Freedom - $3,900 - 10/2012

Minimum 12 months and $5000 limit, but it's not automatic. Chase mentioned income requirements as well.

Appreciate it, but that was eight years ago. It was recovered, rebuilt like Lee Majors, and sold to a guy who moved to Maine. Funny that you came across that.

And I really, reeeeeeeally don't like personal injury work. I don't know anyone in NM to suggest. Sorry.
