2013 Citi Diamond Preferred Card Now Discontinued...

Postby Dylan1982 » Sun Sep 01, 2013 9:52 am

Last year June of 2012, at the same time I opened up a CitiBank Thank You card and Diamond Preferred Card....

FF to yesterday's mail. I got a letter from CitiBank stating that my Diamond Preferred card is being changed over to a Thank You card....

My question is why? I already have a Thank You card (Visa), will this Thank You card that is replacing my Diamond Preferred card (MasterCard), will this become a Thank You MasterCard?

I have NEVER even used my Diamond Preferred card..

Well this is a plot twist. I am trying to decide in between these two cards. Cause I really want a card with Conicarge service. And I could not tell if the Thank you preferred offered the same conciarge service as the diamond. But i guess they are mergeing them.

Or if you can tell me aince you have both. Are they the same? Your thank you and Diamond conciarge wise?

^^^ What he said.

They are most likely phasing it out. It's a completely useless card and I cancelled mine two weeks ago. I still noticed applications online for it though...

I keep getting the BT cheques in the mail from them all the time for my Diamond Preferred! It does serve that purpose for folks who want to do a low cost balance transfer. They've also been generous to me with their CLI on my DP.

I get BT checks from Citibank too, there is a fee of 3% to use them.

As long as they make money sending these out, I don't think the DP is being discontinued. As of this morning, one can still apply for it, unlike with the AMEX Zync and Clear, where you actually get a message that the card is not accepting applications.

I got bored and looked at Citi's available credit cards. Citi Diamond Preferred is still being offered.

Such odd stuff happening over there.

Sent a secured message to CITI. Here's the reply:

The Diamond Preferred card is not being discontinued. If your card product is ever phased out, you will receive written notification in advance of the change.

Not sure what the situation was with the OP, but it's not being discontinued.
