I suspect this:

might be the reason.
If so, it's presumptuous of them to do a product change without asking. I have no idea whether that's something Citibank is known for doing. But it seems to be a likely explanation.

I've recently started getting mail offers for this card, except they've nerfed my 0APR offer to 12mo, not 18mo like they advertise online. The last offer just came a couple days ago.

Citi is always sending me offers for this card. I just got another one in the mail yesterday. Nothing about this card ever made me want to apply for it.

About 2-3 years ago (forgot the actual year), they PC'd my Diamond Preferred into a Thank You without my permission. If they sent a notification then I must have missed it. I hadn't use my Diamond Preferred in years, and one day the Thank You showed up in my mailbox and told me to cut my Diamond card up.

They just sent me a replacement card for my DP, and this one has a chip in it. I doubt they're discontinuing the card. It's not loaded with features, but is a decent card for balance transfers and does look pretty nice compared to most mid range cards. Mine with the chip is gorgeous.

Just a quick update, I just got a Diamond Preferred pre-qualified offer from Citi.
So, I don't think they are discontinuing the card.
