Choosing next card

Postby Jetmemphis91 » Fri Aug 16, 2013 11:38 pm

I am currently on the hunt for my next card. I have a 700 credit rating. About a 1 year credit history. No late payments and low utilization. My first card at 21 was a $500 CL secured card through orchard bank and now Capital One. I hate it has a $35 AF and really small limit. I recently applied for a discover IT card and was approved for $2000 CL. Income is about $80k.

I was looking at the Chase Freedom card since it has decent rewards and no AF. End state I would like to have the chase freedom/CSP combo and an AMEX of some sort. Is there anything I'm lacking to apply for a freedom card? Also, does it matter if I had one inquiry from applying for the Discover IT card?

All opinions and advice on other cards is appreciated as well.

When did you apply for the IT? Is your utilization low? Do you have any negative entries on your report?

I applied for the IT card about a month ago.
Utilization is 5%.
No negatives on report.

I would be amazed if Discover turned you down with one inquiry. It certainly wouldn't keep me from applying. From what I have read, I would expect Freedom would be the easiest card to get from Chase, but in my experience credit approvals are YMMV. Good luck.
