Postby iHackerSix » Sun Aug 11, 2013 7:00 pm

So I've had a Citi TY Preferred Visa for almost 6 months and thought about asking for a CLI. I currently have a 3,000.00 limit and my utilization is <5% on all my CC's. Well actually on my Chase Freedom since I don't have any balance on any other CC. What kind of increase should I ask for? 2X, 3X, or some other variation? I don't have much experience with Citi as a CC holder so I don't wanna "rock the boat" and maybe sink myself :ppp

Ask for what you need or want what do your other limits look like? I am curious because iIjust opened a card account with them today and the gave me over double my highest limit card...

I actually don't "need" any more credit since my spending habits are modest but it's something I figured would look better for my overall profile. I don't currently have any card with a limit higher than 3,000.00 and I'm looking into perhaps adding an Amex or Visa Signature with that 5,000.00 minimum. I currently have these cards:

1. Citi TY Preferred: 3,000.00 limit
2. Chase Freedom Visa: 2,000.00 limit
3. Discover IT: 1,300.00 limit
4. BofA Cash Rewards: 500.00 limit (Don't know what happened here!)

My stats:

TUFico: 680

You might want to try working on BofA. My Travel Rewards card that I got this winter started with a $700 limit, but I called for a CLI to $5k last week and the lady approved it after asking me a few questions. I just told her my (very low) income, and why I wanted the increase (I said for util, but I really just wanted a visa signature), and she approved me on the spot.

As far as Citi goes, I'd probably request a CLI from them after I get the $500 BofA limit sorted out, as your utilization will probably be pretty high on that card.
Gold Delta Skymiles -AU- $25k- 4/12
Citi Forward Visa- $6.1k- 8/12
Amex Gold Delta Skymiles- $3.8k- 1/13
BofA Travel Rewards Visa Sig- $5k- 1/13
Amex Blue Cash Everyday- $5k- 7/13
Barclaycard Arrival WEMC- $5k-1/14
Cap One Quicksilver Visa Sig- $10k- 4/15
