Got my 1st EMV Chip card

Postby C.K. » Fri Aug 09, 2013 12:25 pm

I PC'd my BankAmericard Cash Rewards Visa to a Better Balance Rewards Visa because I don't do much spending, also asked for a CLI so now I have a $2,000 CL for that card and probably the coolest part was getting an EMV chip as well. Thank you B of A. :)
Discover IT: $2,500 CL
BankAmericard Better Balance Rewards Platinum Plus Visa: $2,000 CL

Call B of A and tell them you want one for your cash rewards. It's available for that card.

A good chunk of Bank of America's heavily pushed cards are now chip and signature enabled. Usually it's "upon request", but those like me just got one out of the blue.

I'm still surprised that the "chip" portion is so tiny, compared to the much larger (and older) chip on my Canadian debit and credit cards, but for which are chip and PIN.

I also learned that EMV chips on American Express cards make the card hook horrible, but that's another story.
Current Credit Scores:

Current Credit Cards:
RBC - $8000 CAD
BoA - $13500 USD
Capital One - $2750 USD
AmEx BCE - $4000 USD
Discover It - $8000 USD

The chip size just depends on which company made the chip but generally contactless cards have much bigger chips.
