Marriott?

Postby nismoZtuner » Thu Aug 08, 2013 2:09 pm

I`ve been planing on applying for the Marriott Rewards for a while. I like that the card has the chip and overall a metal material card not plastic

so i`ve been doing bit of research and had found two options:

-50,000 pts after the $1k purchase.
-40,000 pts( After $1k Purchase) w/ $100 Statement Credit (after 1st purchase)
Update: The above offers are no longer available.

What looks like the better deal since I cant make my mind up? :beat:

Right now, Idk if you would be able to get the card because you don't have anything close to a 5k line (Which, unfortunately, the card is a Visa Signature, but if you have more Chase cards you can allocate the limits to a respective card.) I don't mean to be harsh or anything but Chase is pretty picky on their upper tier cards like the Marriott Premier. Though if you do app, I suggest taking the 50k pts unless you value the 100$ credit after 1st purchase. I'd take the 50k points though.

Yes, you generally want your report to be in the cleanest shape possible. Chase, IMO, has some of the best cards out there on the market so like Amex they can be more pickier with the customers they decide to approve. You Should go for the Freedom/CSP first and then a co-branded card (the co-branded are easier to get and in general they give you a higher limit, not so on their own branded cards like the Freedom.) But ya, they are worse then Amex in terms of who they approve IMO.

How much do you make Nismo? are you a student? I am a student and I also live at home and I have a FT job as well and that is what enables me to get the cards I have. I know for certain it is a Visa Signature but with my increase of income this year I hopefully will qualify for it and or cut some of my CL's to get it.

But ya, good luck in getting it, it is a card I want as well and hopefully I'll get it in December, if not I'll try next year for it again and see what happens.

Then you should be able to get it. Since you and I are in CA, they most likely will pull EX and EQ (are you in North or South CA?) how many inquiries/ new accounts do you have, and what do your scores look like? they are more sensitive then Amex in this realm. If I were you, try for the Marriott Premier and one other card (or wait.) and see what happens.

**Ahh, they usually alternate between EX and EQ, I have EX pulled here.
*-They rarely pull TU IME. If your EX and EQ are good you could get it. TU was also pulled when I asked for an increase from BOFA but I'm fine with it.
*Sounds good, it won't matter if they pull TU since one recent inquiry won't do anything, and the one from December is so old that it won't be factored in approving you or not. Just make sure EX and EQ are good and I think you have a reasonable chance. Do you live at home or on your own?
