What happened to the Avon Visa credit card?!

Postby rreines » Mon Aug 05, 2013 3:44 pm

Granted I have not used it in ages but today faced the embarrassment of having a purchase turned down at the register because my credit card didn't work.

I had this for almost 10 years from bank one when i lived in Ohio and then it was changed to Chase sometime a few years back. When I call the number on the back of the card I get a different business of some sort. Do banks cancel your cards without telling you if you go years without using them?

Years without using a card can cause your bank to close your account.

Well don't you believe it is right to at least notify the customer if their credit card account is being closed?

Since asking on here I have done some digging around and from what I can gather Avon credit card has been discontinued. All of the web results I can find about it are years old and there is nothing recent. The Avon website is silent on it too. What do you think happened to it and do you think any of the customers were notified?

Im sure they did, have you moved since first receiving the card many years ago? Could it have been you just looked past a letter from them one day or maybe it came from the bank issuer and you thought it was junk mail and just tossed the letter. Maybe there were emails or phone calls you missed or ignored. This happens. Card issuers have all the right to close your account without notice for any or no real reason. Just like the card holder may or may not decide to pay card compnay.
