One last question---since Fingerhut is actually my 1st CC, will I still lose 6 months if I have to close the Cap1?

Technically, but if you have closed cards they will stay on your report for 10 years I believe, so not anytime soon.

JSS3 let us know if Cap One does a PC. That is very rare and you are lucky if they do. Unlike most companies they don't value the cost of keeping a customer very much.

I'm hoping that if I can't get a PC upgrade to a rewards card, that at the very least, they'll allow me to get rid of the $39 AF on the card. I'll take that! I don't want to get rid of the card since it's now my highest at over $3,000 and it's a good chunk of change of my available credit to lose. My plan is to go to them before my 1 yr renewal and ask. If they decline---two years max!

Any further thoughts?
