BofA’s Humane Society credit card & debit card was axed?

Postby thelas » Fri Jul 12, 2013 5:13 pm

Can someone please confirm for me if this card is still available of if it has been cancelled. I called Bank of America's customer service and can you believe they couldn't tell me for sure the answer. The Humane Society credit card raised donations for every purchase you make. This is the type of program I would really like to use, to help rescue animals and stop animal cruelty.

It's better to get a cash back card and send your cash back to the charity of your choice, as well getting a tax deduction.

Hmm. Well how can you say that for sure. It's not just the rewards that are given to them I would think. Are you sure that the Humane Society doesn't earn commissions or a cut from other fees and interest on the credit and debit card accounts?

They still do have the humane society debit card. Mines is going to expire next year I believe and they sent me a letter informing me they will be re issuing a new one when this one expires. I have no idea on the credit card though.

every charity branded CC that BoA offers to its customers sends a certain amount of money for every account opened + a small percentage of everything you spend, regardless if you incur fees or interest on the card. I have a Susan G Komen card and debit card which are very similar to the humane society cards. this card and the WWF branded CC are still offered for new sign ups.

if i had to guess what happened, i would say BoA got too many complains about supporting the Humane Society of the U.S. (HSUS). those guys are total whack jobs. they don't use their money to support shelters or anything like that. they just harass farmers and pet stores. they aren't out to actually help anyone. even though they occasionally close down a poorly maintained puppy mill, they really just want people to stop eating meat, eggs, etc and live off of grass. which is a little silly if you ask most people. you can do some research if any of this interests you.

Animal Agriculture Alliance logged a complaint to BoA when they started supporting HSUS, and many others followed. i guess BoA finally axed their relationship with HSUS. I'm guessing the HSUS debit card will go next, if not already gone.

This card is no longer in existence. However Discover has recently teamed up with the Humane Society and you can read more about that here: http://www.humanesociety.org/shop/
