CSP likelihood

Postby ncosky290 » Wed Jul 10, 2013 8:25 pm

I applied in Feb for the Freedom. Declined at first. Reconsider line change to yes. Started with a 2k limit and 22% APR but with the entry offer still. 2 weeks ago auto increase to 2500. What are my changes with applying and getting the Chase Sapphire. Any ideas? My utilization is 20% across all accounts. Amex Credit Secure is giving me 720 on all three bureaus.

Applied. Got 7-10 days... called recon and said it requires further review now and it changed from 7-10 days to two weeks. Is this good or bad?

Thanks

Nice jump from 2k to $2,500 in under a small amount of time!

Not sure what your income level is, but I applied back in Feb. and was denied strictly based on my income (less than 30k right now). My credit score after receiving a denial letter was around 770, so that couldn't have been the issue. Never carried a balance, no baddies, under 20% utilization overall I'd say.

Like the SP, I think it's for those who make a ton more+spend a ton more. I had seldom been charging anything on my Freedom at the time with a $2k limit, so that could be a determiner- almost doesn't make sense when I have an $8,000 Amex revolver limit. Chase has been very stingy increasing my limit only $500 every six months I request a CLI.

Either way, I'd hit up the recon line ASAP. I didn't even bother to try it with my Sapphire denial.

Would be nice though; most of my spending is on restaurants!
Currently: American Express Blue Sky, American Express Zync, Chase Freedom Visa, Capital One Newcomers--->converted to Capital One Quicksilver Mastercard NO AF

That was the reason I wanted it. They reviewed it twice and said right now they can not give it to me but only because I have a few accounts that are newer. If i wait until beg of the year without any new accounts they will have no problem extending a new account as long as I keep my accounts in good standing and under 20% use. They also suggested to cancel the Cap One accounts as they are not the best accounts they like to see active even though I a 0 Balance for over a year on both. Cap one won't to a Re-Allociation so I will say buy the one with a Horrible CL anyways. Plus their AF are a waste. Will keep the other as it is sitting at 10% APR for ever!

Yep. Said I see u have 3 cap ones. One is bestbuy she said but the other two are revolvers and seem to be your first accounts. Said they are not something they like seeing often especially since I have two amex cards and a chase card.

I was like oh ok. Sorry lol.

That's interesting about the Cap One accounts. I was considering going for a CLI on my SP after I pay off my next statement. (It was larger than normal from a vacation overseas) Now I'm wondering if I should cancel my Cap One card account before going for the CLI, since I have never and will never use it. Maybe it doesn't weigh THAT heavily though...

I had read on FICO where a guy said he applied with Chase and they basically sneered at the Cap One accounts they saw in his report. They seem to think very little of Cap One (I've heard Amex regards them the same way). if the accounts are true, which I've seen enough that I really don't doubt.

It probably would not cause an automatic rejection but if you aren't auto approved and have to get reviewed or recon they could bring it up. A good history and some quick smooth talk would probably outweigh it (just tell them you realize Cap One is bad and that's one of the reasons you are applying with Chase so you can move on to give your business to a better class of lender. Should be the truth and do the trick).
